Takamine P4DC Dreadnought Cutaway Electro Acoustic
Takamine’s P4DC dreadnought cutaway combines tradition with contemporary refinements, including a resonant solid spruce top with “X” top bracing for superior clarity and projection, and a solid sapele back with sapele sides for rich, warm sound.
Built with the performer in mind, the P4DC features Takamine’s proprietary CTP-3 Cool Tube™ preamp system paired with the unique Palathetic™ under-saddle pickup for peerless amplified response. The dual-channel CTP-3 provides low-voltage tube tone, variable from bright and brilliant to thick and warm, three-band EQ with semi-parametric midrange, auxiliary input and volume (for use when a second pickup is added), and an onboard chromatic tuner.
Other performance-enhancing features include a convenient Venetian cutaway for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard, and Takamine’s asymmetrical neck profile – which is slightly thinner on the bass side so that it fits the natural shape of your hand, resulting in a comfortable feel and improved playability. The split bone saddle provides more accurate intonation, while the pin-less rosewood bridge makes string changes a breeze.
Premium design appointments include elegant ivory body binding with dark wood purfling, a rosette featuring concentric rings and wood marquetry, a rosewood fingerboard with ivory binding and wood “dot-in-dot” inlays, gold tuners with amber buttons, a natural bone nut, elegant red tortoise pickguard and a gloss natural finish. The PD4C comes complete with a premium archtop hardshell case.
The dreadnought body shape is known for its powerful and balanced sound. It offers a strong low-end response and plenty of volume, making it suitable for various musical styles and playing techniques. The P4DC features a solid spruce top, which is a versatile tonewood that provides a balanced and articulate sound.
The back and sides of the guitar are made of solid sapele, a tonewood similar to mahogany, known for its warm and rich sound. This tonewood combination gives the P4DC a well-rounded and expressive tone with a strong midrange presence.
The “cutaway” design of the guitar means that the upper bout of the body has been modified to allow easier access to the higher frets. This feature is beneficial for players who frequently play lead or solo passages that require reaching the higher register of the instrument.
Like many Takamine guitars, the P4DC is equipped with electronics for amplified performances. It features the Takamine CT4B II preamp system, which includes a built-in tuner, volume control, and a three-band EQ for shaping the guitar’s amplified tone. These electronics offer versatility and convenience for live performances or recording sessions.
The P4DC also boasts a comfortable mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, providing a smooth playing experience. The neck has a slightly narrower width compared to some other acoustic guitars, which can make it easier for players with smaller hands to navigate the fretboard.
In summary, the Takamine P4DC Dreadnought Cutaway Electro-Acoustic Guitar is a high-quality instrument that offers a powerful and balanced sound, convenient electronics for amplification, and a comfortable playing experience. Its cutaway design allows for easy access to the higher frets, making it suitable for a wide range of musical styles and playing techniques.
