Guild A-20 Bob Marley (Including Gig Bag)
Guild A-20 Bob Marley. Based on Bob Marley’s at-home, songwriting guitar, the Guild A-20 Marley is a worthy tribute to the reggae legend. Many of Marley’s hits through the seventies were written on his Guild Madeira acoustic guitar. The A-20 Marley reintroduces Marley’s beloved dreadnought to the world along with a few modern appointments.
Built with a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the full-bodied and powerful tone of this dreadnought provides Marley fans and songwriters alike with an easy-to-play, well-balanced acoustic guitar. The C-shaped neck with 25 ½” scale length allows for a relaxed and comfortable feel. Unique features include a vintage-correct, flat, round-cornered headstock with vintage Guild script logo, custom pickguard with Bob Marley signature, and a MARLEY script inlay on the 12th fret. Additional features include a pau ferro fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, and a matte polyurethane finish.
Available in Natural. As a continuation of Bob Marley’s love for music and planet, the guitar includes a premium Marley X Guild gig bag made from recycled nylon. Additionally, Guild has partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every Marley guitar made. The included booklet contains the history of Marley’s Guild Madeira, first-hand stories from his family, details on how the A-20 Marley was made, and official chords for one of Bob Marley’s biggest hits.
Three custom guitar picks display a lion and Guild G-Shield in gold ink. Finally, an exclusive poster featuring Bob Marley and his original Guild is included to commemorate the legacy of one of the world’s greatest songwriters.
The Westerly Collection pays homage to an important period in Guild’s early history, when Guild outgrew the beloved Hoboken, New Jersey factory, and moved production to Westerly, Rhode Island in 1967. Finding a home in a former furniture manufacturing building, Guild took advantage of the additional space the new location had to offer, and improved upon the production layout left behind in Hoboken.
With a fresh start, highly skilled employees, and plenty of room to grow, Guild flourished. It was not long before the Westerly factory became renowned for exceptional craftsmanship, quality, and the introduction of many beloved Guild acoustics. The dedication to innovation was apparent, with meticulous attention to detail. Inspired by this golden era, the Guild Westerly Collection carries on the tradition of impeccable workmanship and unwavering excellence by incorporating high-quality materials and classic Guild designs into each instrument.
The guitar Bob Marley played at home for most of his songwriting through the 1970s was a Guild. The above photo was taken of Marley playing his A-20 Guild Madeira at his home on 56 Hope Rd in Kingston, Jamaica. He is photographed here by David Burnett for Time Magazine in March of 1976.
Madeira was Guild’s first ever import brand back in the 1970’s. Just like Epiphone is to Gibson now. They were first made in Japan with USA parts then were made in Korea with USA parts by Samick. The A-20 by Madeira was made in Korea and features a book matched spruce top, x-style bracing, a mahogany neck, back and sides, along with a rosewood fretboard and bridge.
